Sandgate Historical Society

THE SANDGATE & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY & MUSUEM INC, is a not for profit incorporaton. We open to the public on Wednesdays and Sundays from 10 am to 3pm.

On the fourth Monday of each month a general meeting is held and a speaker presents a talk relevant to the area.

To help with the maintenance and general expenses there is a small entrance fee of $3 adult and $1.50 child.

Society collects and preserves the history of the local area for future generations. Our group of volunteers research old newspapers, wills, shipping lists etc and for future reference catalogue and store those which are relevant to our local history.

The Museum also portrays the chronological local history and many historical "items" of interest are on display. Classes of school children, scouting, history, gardening and aged groups and bus tours are among our many visitors.

The Museum will show a DVD and provide morning tea, by arrangement, for visiting groups.

The Museum is looking for new members and volunteers. If you are interested in the history of Sandgate and districts and meeting new people call in at 150 Rainbow Street, Sandgate or phone 3869 2283 Wednesdays.
