The draft strategy for the Sandgate Area Neighbourhood plan is open for feedback until Monday 4 November.

Councillor Jared Cassidy said the document was the culmination of community surveys, online feedback and community consultation.

“I think it’s really important for the community to have their say because this will inform the final Neighbourhood Plan that will guide development in our community for the next 20 years or so,” Cr Cassidy said.

“I know residents value the character of our area, but also want to see it as somewhere their children can choose to live in the future as well.”

To provide feedback go to and search for ‘Sandgate Area Neighbourhood plan.

Bayside locals are being asked to donate to the Police Commissioner’s Christmas Food Drive which will run from Thursday 7 November to Friday 6 December.

Sandgate Police in partnership with local member Stirling Hinchliffe and Cr Jared Cassidy are collecting non-perishable items and food for those affected by drought.

Food drive coordinator at Sandgate Police Station Jean Gardiner said food drives were a fun way to give back during the festive season while also supporting Queenslanders in need this Christmas.

Donations can be dropped off at Sandgate Police Station (80-84 Brighton Rd, Sandgate), as well as Stirling Hinchliffe and Cr Cassidy’s offices, Monday to Friday 8am-4pm.
