Real estate agency, Professionals Sandgate, has created a special calendar for 2020, which features a group of tradies who either live in the 4017 district or have worked in the area, to raise awareness of prostate cancer.
Principal of Professionals Sandgate, Darren Patrick, said the charity project was to help raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA). The real estate agency has printed 1000 of the tradie calendars, which are $10 each, and has a goal to raise $10,000 by the end of December for the PCFA.
“We launched the calendar with an event at Mr Henderson and the support from the local community has been amazing,” Darren said.
“We are planning another event to raise awareness about prostate cancer that will coincide with this year’s Jingle all the Bay on Friday, 6 December.”
Professionals Sandgate is planning to enter a float in the Jingle All The Bay street parade as well as hold a calendar sale and signing station at the event. The business is encouraging locals to purchase a calendar in support of the PCFA.
“Unfortunately, nearly all the trades who have been involved with our calendar have a personal story about a connection to prostate cancer,” Darren said.
Shorncliffe resident, Darrell Harvey, of Sandgate Electrical, said that after having many men in his family affected by prostate cancer, the calendar was an important initiative to be part of and support.
“Prostate cancer runs in my family. All my uncles have had it and my father passed away from it. So, it was very important to me to be a part of this project,” Darrell said.
