The Bloody Long Walk
Rally your family and friends to join or support you in the Mito Foundation's annual event, The Bloody Long Walk.

This 35km challenge starts in Sandgate and follows a course through the Boondall Wetlands and along the bikeway to the river, finishing triumphantly at the Story Bridge.

Marketing and communications manager of the Mito Foundation, Fiona Glenn said The Bloody Long Walk is about raising awareness for mitochondrial disease (mito); a debilitating and potentially fatal genetic disorder that robs the body's cells of the energy they need to function properly.

Mito is a terminal illness with no current cure and few effective treatments. All money raised goes towards funding research and supporting families impacted by mito, Fiona said.

Every week in Australia, one child will develop a life-threatening form of mito ' that's 50 Aussie kids a year ' that's why we need as much support as possible.

This year, The Bloody Long Walk will be run as both virtual and in-person COVIDSafe events.

Visit www.bloodylongwalk.com.au to register, make a donation or find out more. Whether you walk or run, every step is one step closer to finding a cure for mito.
