Music By The Sea Is Back!
JANUARY: SHENZO GREGORIO QUARTET

Shenzo Gregorio Quartet will lead us into 2021 with a concert on 2 January. This will be our first concert since The Necks performed in March this year.

Virtuoso, Jazz musician, composer, and stuntman Shenzo Gregorio brings his Gypsy Jazz Quartet to Sandgate.

Shenzo, a violinist and multi-instrumentalist, first discovered the music of Django Reinhardt at the age of 15. An epic 23-year-long journey of self discovery and touring followed, taking him to a plethora of countries the world over with highlights including the Montreux Jazz Festival and New York's Carnegie Hall.

Considered amongst peers to be one of the most creative violinists in Australia, Shenzo's approach to the music of Django Reinhardt pays homage to the tradition while at the same time bringing an inventive flare to the art form.

Shenzo will be joined by John Reeves (piano accordion), Peter Walters (double bass), Cameron James (gypsy jazz guitar), and special guest singer Rachael Ward. Be prepared to be blown away with their incredible virtuosity.

There are still COVID restrictions in place with the result that there are limited tickets available for this concert. Please note, this could change before the concert date to our normal capacity, enabling us to bring you our fantastic program in 2021 without any restrictions and/or postponements. We thank you for your patience thus far.

FEBRUARY: EISHAN ENSEMBLE

On 6 February we'll present an extraordinary group of artists with Eishan Ensemble.

Led by acclaimed Persian-Australian tar player and composer Hamed Sadeghi, Eishan Ensemble draws on contemporary and classical music traditions of both East and West. The ensemble's repertoire consists predominantly of Sadeghi's original compositions with diverse improvisatory idioms featured powerfully. Variously described as Persian chamber jazz and Middle-Eastern jazz fusion, Eishan Ensemble defies neat labels.

¦astonishing power and convulsive impact.ť
