Waitangi Day might be the national day of New Zealand, but it’s celebrated all around the world – including right here in Sandgate.
Sandgate Post Office Hotel is once again hosting an event to celebrate all things from across the ditch.
Hotel general manager TJ Marshall said the day would be very similar to the one held last year, with locals performing the Haka, and DJ Tusani on the decks for the afternoon.
“For us as a venue, it’s a chance to celebrate a day of meaning – even if it’s not Australian,” TJ said. “For the people of Sandgate and surrounds it’s somewhere to come on the day to celebrate Waitangi Day and perhaps learn something new if you’re not familiar with it. And indulge in some New Zealand beer and eat some New Zealand favourites; we’re doing a special menu for lunch that day.
“Some highlights are for sure the Haka, and having Tui on tap,” he said.
Stop by for a drink or stay for the entire afternoon. Bookings are highly encouraged, especially if you want to enjoy a meal.
