Mug Shots Espresso: Now A Café Experience
If hole-in-the-wall coffee shop Mug Shots Espresso was your favourite place for a caffeine hit, you'll love their new venue. Now in larger premises, Mug Shots has also incorporated a dine-in café experience to its offering.

Café owner Lee-Anne Kerr said the move had been incredible and she could now cater her business to a larger demographic.

Our café area caters to anyone and everyone who enjoys great coffee, a moment to stop and enjoy the atmosphere, or a catch-up with family and friends. We also kept the on-street hole-in-the-wall experience for the quick pick-me-up required to get to work or school run, she said.

The menu includes a wide selection of coffee, tea, hot chocolates, frappes and smoothies. There's also café-style food with a range of lunches during the week, and breakfast for the weekends are coming soon. The hot food menu will also include the ability to BYO alcohol.

At the moment we offer a range of home-made gluten-free goodies, as well as bakery-style muffins, Lee-Anne said. But my favourite would have to be the ham and cheese croissants. Tony's Bakery supplies the croissants, and they are divine.

Lee-Anne said it was the coffee, though, that was the real stand-out item on the menu. The signature blend is the Moreton Bay Gold ' a light to medium roast best enjoyed freshly made in store. Or, if set up with your own coffee machine at home, you can pick yourself up some beans instead.

Our coffee is set apart from others within Sandgate due to being the only locally roasted coffee in the 4017 area. I personally roast all of our blends and single origins. We stock a selection of single origin and always have our blends on stock for your home as well.

The café is open every day from 5am, so you'll never be without your coffee fix. If you've got the time, though, sit back and relax inside.

My aim with the new café area was to make a space that was warm and welcoming, somewhere to escape, unwind and enjoy the coffee and company, Lee-Anne said.

Now the move to a bigger venue is complete, the only thing left to do is continue to serve the community with delicious food and drinks.

In five years, I am sure we will still be doing great coffee, with great customers and enjoying our beautiful bayside community.
