Boost Your Employment Prospects At Bootcamp
Landing your dream job could become a reality sooner than you might think ' with the right advice.

Job seekers will learn resume-writing tips, how to impress at interviews, and much more when the Jobseeker Bootcamp comes to Bracken Ridge Plaza this month.

Property consultants JLL's Queensland regional marketing manager   Setty Ferdousian, who manages Bracken Ridge Plaza, said she had spent time talking to local community groups and community members and discovered employment was a key issue in the area.

After COVID, a lot of people lost their jobs and some had to look for a different career path,ť Setty said. Many people weren't aware of how to pursue employment or what areas they needed to focus on ' whether it's how to write a resume, how to present themselves or what to say in an interview.

What we wanted to do was give our community this bootcamp to enable them with the right tools to seek employment, as well as give them their motivation and confidence back.ť

The free Jobseeker Bootcamps are facilitated by the Assistant Minister for Youth and Employment Services, Luke Howarth MP.

Luke said a job provided a sense of security, a connection to peers, and a sense of purpose.

Jobseeker Bootcamps are an employment initiative I have been running in my electorate of Petrie for the last few years, where I bring together local employers responsible for hiring and motivating jobseekers in a welcoming and honest environment,ť he said.

Setty said employment had changed a lot in the past 10 years.

Once, you'd submit a resume and go for an interview, but these days there are new systems,ť Setty said. We've got people who can give tips on how to submit job applications using digital platforms.ť

Social branding analyst Kylie Chown will talk about how to set up a LinkedIn profile that gets attention from employers. Local businesses will discuss opportunities for work and what they look for when hiring new staff.

Different employers will be sharing their experiences about how they started out, from collecting trolleys to building a career as a manager at a national level,ť Setty said.

It doesn't matter what background you are from, you can achieve your dream job. That's why we are putting these prominent speakers in front of the community who have worked their way from the bottom up. We hope to inspire our community.ť
