Jason’s Quality Meats was once again a cut above the rest in this year’s regional Sausage King Competition.
The Brighton butcher took home the top gong in the beef sausage category, second place in the poultry category with their chicken and garlic sausage, third place with their lamb chutney sausages in the lamb category, and third in the continental category with their bratwurst sausage.
Business owner Jason Andrews said the beef category attracted the fiercest competition. “It’s considered the one that everyone wants; it’s the hardest one because every butcher sells beef sausages,” he said.
Off the back of his latest wins, Jason said he was excited to progress to the competition’s next round.
“Last year, we were really confident that we could have gone all the way in the Queensland titles,” he said. “But we lost our opportunity to go because COVID-19 stopped all of that. This year, we have two chances. If we win that, we could go to the nationals. That would be awesome, putting 4017 on the map.”
Jason said that the secret to his award-winning sausages was using free-range, grass-fed, hormone-free meat, and organic herbs and spices.
“There’s no preservatives, no emulsifiers and no gluten,” he said. “It’s all really good quality meat.”
