Cheers To International Beer Day

International Beer Day is a world-wide day for beer lovers everywhere to celebrate everything they love about their favourite amber liquid. Events will occur in pubs, breweries, and backyards all around the world, including right here in Sandgate.

Sandgate Post Office Hotel general manager TJ Marshall said the hotel would be celebrating the international event by showcasing some great local brews and raising money for charity while they're at it.

We are using the International Beer Day as an excuse to drink some cool local beers and raise money for a good cause,� TJ said.

TJ said the hotel would have a selection of beers from Slipstream and Ballistic with a representative for the beers there to talk all things beer and brewery. Attendees can settle in with a favourite brew or try something new.

There will be nothing too crazy and 'out there' craft wise, just some super tasty local brews,� he said. Perhaps something that people may not have tried. My personal favourite is the Oaked XPA from Ballistic.�

The charity component of the event will raise money for two teams competing in the 2022 Road Boss Rally. Monies raised will go to GIVIT ' a not-for-profit charity organisation that uses donations to fill real, and often urgent, needs in communities. They work with charities, community groups and people in need, especially in times of disaster.

We are raising money for two teams ' the Old Bulls Racing and the FlaminGo Bling,� TJ said. We have worked with the guys from Old Bulls Racing for the last year and a bit to help out their team where we can. This seemed like a good opportunity to fundraise for two teams,� TJ said.

This International Beer Day event will celebrate not only the much-loved beverage but also the community in which it is served and shared. If you're thinking about heading along, TJ said it should be a simple decision to make.

It's on a Friday afternoon, food and beer is provided, and it's for a good cause. Why wouldn't you come?�
