Get Ready For  Backyard Bonanza!
Backyard Bonanza (BYB) is back this year and there's so much to see and do, you'll wonder how to fit it all into one day.

The Bracken Ridge Central Lions Club will present free entertainment and activities for the whole family when the festival returns to McPherson Park in Bracken Ridge on Sunday, 24 October.

Bracken Ridge Central Lions Club president Louise Gordon said she was looking forward to getting the community together.

The Bracken Ridge Lions Club really enjoys days like this,¯ Louise said. It's a chance to put a smile on everyone's face.¯

Bracken Ridge Ward Councillor Sandy Landers said residents had been telling her how excited they were for the festival.

Like many Brisbane festivals, BYB was unable to go ahead last year due to COVID restrictions, so the community is really looking forward to its return,¯ Sandy said.

This year's BYB is all about our local community, and the talent on show includes Norris Road State School Choir, Soundwave Community Choir and the brilliant Aussie, Aussie, Aussie rock band.

There will also be community groups like Scouts, Girl Guides, Bald Hills Bushies, Bracken Ridge Cricket Club, and Ridgettes Netball Club.¯

This year there will be three stages bursting with the best of local entertainment, including BYB favourite, six-piece band Aussie, Aussie, Aussie. Lead singer Jon Twartz said they would be headlining on Stage 1.

We play all the best Aussie rock from the seventies, eighties and nineties and we can't wait to rock the BYB this year,¯ Jon said.

Over on Stage 2, the kids will be thrilled to see Nickelodeon's PAW Patrol. Plus, there will be a performance from Jazzercise Sandgate, and interactive science and wildlife shows.

PAW Patrol will not only be performing on stage, but walking around the park, so you may be able to take a photo with them,¯ Louise said.

Stage 3 will showcase local youth talent.

BYB coincides with the popular Bracken Ridge Central Lions Train Day, so festival-goers can enjoy miniature steam train rides as well as a host of free activities like craft workshops, face painting, an animal farm, skateboarding and rides.
