All Fun And Games At Board Game Day

Are you looking for a great way to ‘break the dice’ and meet other people who share a passion for board games?
Brisbane’s fifth Board Game BBQ Game Day takes place at Geebung RSL this month, presented by the hosts of a popular podcast.
Board Game BBQ podcast host Adrian Smith said around 120 people usually attended their Brisbane events.
“Last year we decided to host our first Game Day in Brisbane and it was a huge success,” Adrian said.
“It is our opportunity to take our passion for playing board games and share it with the community. It is important to us that Board Game BBQ Game Days are a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone.”
The Board Game BBQ podcast started in May 2020 when nine like-minded people came together through a Facebook group. The team now hold regular family friendly events in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as Brisbane.
Tabletop gamers will enjoy playing popular titles like Wingspan, Everdell, Gloomhaven and other bestsellers. Beginners can also sign up for sessions where they will be taught to play a specific game.
“We have an extensive library, mostly donated by local game store 2D6,” said Adrian. “You can find everything from family games and party games, to heavy euro games, as well as old and new favourites.”
The Game Day will take place in two rooms at the Geebung RSL.
“Upon arrival you will be greeted by one of our team members and we can help you find a suitable game to play or learn,” Adrian said.
Everyone with a ticket will automatically be entered into a special prize draw to win board games or a voucher for the Brisbane online board game dealer 2D6, who will have a pop-up shop there on the day.
“We really have a very mixed group of people joining our events,” Adrian said. “For many people it’s the first modern board game they have ever played. We have a great group of volunteers who help teach people games throughout the day. We have a very welcoming community where everyone learns games from each other.”
