Tee Time for Ladies at Sandgate Golf Club
Ladies, get ready to swing into 2022 at the Sandgate Golf Club. There’s lots of fun in store for female golf enthusiasts this February and March, with places available at special golf clinics and the annual Ladies Open Day.

Sandgate Golf Club ladies captain Pat Thomas said they were hoping to welcome new members to the club with these exciting events.

“The club endeavours to provide a challenging golfing experience for members and visitors in a friendly community environment,” Pat said.

The ladies clinic offers new members the chance to improve their game by participating in group lessons with professional golfer and Sandgate local, Chris Chaplin.

“Chris will take participants around the game of golf, so they know how to manage a game of golf on the fairway and how to use the equipment,” Pat said.

The 90 minute lessons will take place on the first three Wednesdays in February, with a two-hour on-course session on Wednesday, 23 February. The cost of the clinic is $130 per person, which includes a two-month membership to the club.

Those who miss out on a place in the February clinic will be able to contact the club about dates for another clinic in March.

There’s also the annual Ladies Day to look forward to on Tuesday, 29 March. Tickets are $25 and include morning tea and lunch.

“After successful centenary celebrations last year, we are again holding our Ladies Open Day,” Pat said. “It is a team event where participants travel from afar to attend, enjoy golf and meet new friends.

“We have morning tea, then go out and play in pairs. There’s a presentation and lunch, raffles and prizes on the day. It’s very social.”

In a bid to boost membership, Pat said the club were also hoping to get young people between the ages of 10 and 18 interested in golf.

“We recognise that the youth of today will be the membership of the future,” Pat said. “We haven’t run any junior clinics before so that’s something we are looking to do.”

Interested young golfers are invited to contact the club for more information.
