Local Kids Tell Us Why They Love Mum
Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to remind your mum or the mother figure in your life just how special they are.

At the Sandgate Guide, we wanted to commemorate this Mother’s Day by finding out what local kids loved most about their mum.

We found a few young festival-goers at last month’s Bluewater Festival and asked them why they thought their mum was the best mum in the world, what activities they enjoyed doing with their mum and what they’ve got planned this Sunday, 8 May.

And according to the kids, it’s the little things that mean the most.

“My mum gives good tickles,” said John, who enjoys having fish and chips on the waterfront with his mum. He said his mum was hoping to sleep in on Mother’s Day this year.

Braxton is another big fan of tickles and he also thinks his mum deserves to have a big sleep in this Mother’s Day. When asked what his favourite thing to do with his mum was, he said he enjoyed having mud fights on the beach together.

It’s all about mum’s great cuddles for Jacob and Leo, who said this year their mum would get “lots of presents from us.”

Kolbi, Carter and Cooper think their mum is the best because she cooks really nice dinners. They said their favourite thing to do with mum was to play games and soccer.

“She jumps on the trampoline with us,” said Grace and Georgia when asked why they think their mum is number one. This Mother’s Day, they intend to spoil mum with some lovely presents. They said one of their favourite activities to do with mum was ice-skating.

However you choose to honour your mum, mother figure, or other important person in your life this Mother’s Day, it is nice to be reminded that simple moments like cuddles and tickles, and spending time together playing games or having fish and chips on the beach, are often the most special.

And of course, letting mum enjoy a nice, long sleep in.
