Sandgate Gets Boutique Edge
Sandgate has long been home to a boutique with a difference, but owing to recent renovations that have made Gate’s Edge Boutique a stunning reality, everything is now happening under a refreshed name and energy.

Gate’s Edge stocks labels from a wide range of International brands as well as in-house label Annalisse Designs, which are designed by the owner herself.

Owner and Fashion Designer Annalisse Thiedeke said she was passionate about finding pieces that people couldn’t see anywhere else.

“Our garments are made well, feature exclusive prints and embellishments, and are prominently natural fibres – which is essential for living in Queensland,” she said.

According to Ms Thiedeke, the renovations had been watched with much anticipation by the public and were an exciting process in which to be involved.

“I had outgrown the previous space [as Georgia Boutique] and after considering all options decided there was no better location than Sandgate Village,” she said.

A story stretching back to 1910 was unearthed beneath an old shop floor which Ms Theideke was careful to preserve, fusing original character features with contemporary elements to create a truly dynamic commercial environment.

“We have created a completely new retail experience and our new name is a reflection of the curated and edgy fashion you will find in store,” she said.

The name of the store, according to Ms. Thiedeke, also pays homage to Sandgate (often known as ‘The Gate’), which is an area she believes is thriving more than ever.

“Sandgate’s shopping precinct is full of independently owned stores and café’s set in the most charming old buildings, and this is a huge draw card,” she said.

Gate’s Edge builds on that unique appeal via the exclusivity of Annalisse Designs, which is complimented by everything from high end silks, velvets and embroideries to hand poured candles, crystal infused fragrances and sneakers.

Ms. Thiedeke is now working on her upcoming line of high-end textiles, the majority of which were produced in Brisbane.
