Carols By The Bay Brings Christmas Cheer To Sandgate
It’s the most wonderful time of the year as Carols by the Bay prepares to bring Christmas cheer to the 4017 community once again.

Guests will be able to sing along to a wide array of traditional Christmas classics sprinkled with contemporary holiday favourites as students from Nashville, Sandgate and Brighton State Schools combine forces to perform in a special group ensemble. Also, performing once again, are two talented local community choirs – Bayside Divas and Multitude Community Choir.

Deagon Ward Councillor Jared Cassidy said it’s always such a joy to see so many families come out to watch the singers perform.

“This event has been running in one form or another for about 30 years now and it’s amazing to be able to keep this tradition going with the support of the community,” he said. “I remember attending as a child back in the early 1990s and have such fond memories of the event from when I was a kid.

“The strong community support that Carols by the Bay has had from both families and music teachers at Nashville, Brighton and Sandgate State Schools over the years has been incredible. Without them, the event wouldn’t happen.”

Annette Grant, music teacher at Nashville State School, will be taking the lead for this year’s school performances for her very last time after being at the school for 10 years and working as a music teacher for the last 35 years.

“Carols by the Bay is a lovely way to finish the school year with great attendance and support from families in the Bramble Bay area,” she said. “It’s such an enjoyable performance opportunity for the kids and wonderful for the community to come together and watch.”

With a BBQ, coffee, snow cones and ice cream, as well as Lions Christmas cakes for sale, there will be plenty of food available. To add to the fun, kids can collect a free glow stick to wave around under the stars once the sun goes down, and of course, there will be the much-anticipated visit from Santa himself! So gather your family and friends and come down to Einbunpin Lagoon for a relaxing evening of carols, good food, and festive family fun.
