Broadway Showstoppers Swap the Stage for the Ice Rink
Boondall Figure Ice Skating Club (BFISC) will bring the magic of Broadway to the ice this month in their annual Ice Spectacular.

The one-hour performance, Broadway Wonders on Ice, will showcase a razzle-dazzling array of figure skating performances inspired by beloved musicals at Iceworld Boondall this month.

Director and choreographer, Kate Endriulaitis (Coach Kate) came up with the idea for the theme after noticing the stacked calendar of stage shows and classic musicals in Brisbane this year and next year.

“The theatre buzz on the street got me thinking, why not bring the magic of Broadway to a whole new level with an ice show?” Kate said.

The show promises to have attendees mesmerised by awe-inspiring routines and dazzling costumes while singing along to their favourite hits from popular musicals like Hairspray, Tina, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Wicked.

Kate said the Ice Spectacular was a celebration for the skaters in recognition of their hard work and dedication to the sport throughout the year.

“The show is not just about skilful skating, it’s about embracing everybody’s unique qualities and experiencing the joy and excitement that comes from performing in a non-competitive environment, in front of a crowd,” she said.

“Our cast includes skaters from all walks of life, including children and adults from the Aussie Skate school program, right through to BFISC’s elite skaters, including both Queensland and Australian representative skaters.

“While our elite skating cast will blow you away with the incredible talent on display, it’s the Aussie Skate kids who will capture your hearts in their performance in this year’s show. Bring tissues!”

Junior cast member Mila Coetzee, 9, joined the Aussie Skate school program two years ago and said this would be her second time performing in the Ice Spectacular.

“I’m not allowed to give away too much, but I’m glad to be performing in one of my favourite musicals of all time,” Mila said. “I haven’t seen it on stage, but it made a great movie.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone have fun and soaking up the excitement on show day.”

Tickets start at $25pp. For tickets and information visit iceshowboondall.com and follow BFISC Ice Show on Facebook and iceshowboondall on Instagram.
