Exploring a bygone era is just part of the charm of a vintage market. Picking for treasure, reliving childhood memories, and collecting bespoke pieces with a story is such an enjoyable way to spend a Sunday morning.
The team behind the popular Sandgate Farmer’s Market have unearthed some fabulous finds and pulled together some of Sandgate’s previous retail residents, to create a morning of nostalgia with their first vintage market.
“It will feel like the markets of old, with fruit and vegetables and a hunt through the trash and treasure, just like we used to do”, market joint co-ordinator Lindy Goodall said.
“When you buy a piece from a vintage market, you’re getting the history of the piece… the story behind the item…”
Stall holders include Hello Duckie, Hua Girl, Click Clack Lounge, A Touch of Whimsy and an eclectic mix of collectors and sellers, with everything from 1920s fashion to vintage badminton sets!
“The farmers market was just the beginning. We aim to have additional markets each month with different themes to create a destination for locals, and bring in people from outside the area”, said Lindy.
