St Paul’s School annual Solo Competition finals will be held at Sandgate Town Hall this month, and will showcase the school’s finest musicians as they compete for the top places in their age categories.
St Paul’s School head of extra-curricular music Kellee Green said the competition was a diverse program of beautiful music that had something for everyone’s tastes.
“These events are always lovely,” Kellee said. “I know they inspire me as a teacher because I feel like we’re leaving the legacy of music in Australia in good hands. It’s a great opportunity to see them do something really incredible.”
The finals will be adjudicated by the conductor of the Queensland Youth Symphony, Simon Hewitt, who will award first, second, and third places in year and instrument groups.
“I am astounded by how talented they are,” Kellee said. “Even though I hear them in ensembles, when you get to hear them on their own, it’s really exciting and it’s the one opportunity through the year that they get to do a solo performance in front of a lot of people.”
At only $5 per ticket, this is a cost-effective evening out to hear the talents of the young ones in the community. Tickets must be pre-booked here: www.stpaulsmusic.com.au/event/2021-solo-competition-final/
