This year’s holiday season is fast-approaching and everyone’s starting to ready themselves for the festivities to come.
Thanks to a major fundraising effort, Hudson This is certainly true for Volunteer Marine Rescue Brisbane (VMR) and Bracken Ridge Lions Club (BRLC), as they prepare for their fourth year presenting Carols by the Creek fundraising event.
“This is our fourth year since 2018,” said David Massam, Secretary of VMR. “We love bringing joy to the families of our community.”
Many extraordinary people volunteer in our communities and the good work they do deserves recognition and support.
“The VMR contributes by being ready 24/7 to help distressed situations in the Moreton Bay waterways,” said David.
“Through our volunteer-run foundations, we support causes like emergency and disaster relief, childhood cancer, children’s mobility, drug awareness, health and more.” BRLC website.
“We’re very appreciative of the community for their support,” said David. “Cr Jared Cassidy and his team inspired us right from the start.”
So, let’s get into the spirit of things!
Bring your picnic blanket or chairs, find yourselves a spot by Cabbage Tree Creek, relax and unwind. This is a family affair so your furry friends (on leash) are welcome too.
Kids can enjoy lots of free entertainment including face painting, ball throw game, candy cones and Kim Mancini’s craft activities, etc.
For adults, the bar will be stocked with boutique beers and other drinks and funds raised are in support of VMR. For licensing purposes, NO BYO Alcohol is permitted.
And let’s not forget your taste buds! BRLC is catering a good ole fashioned sausage sizzle where proceeds will go directly to their services.
Other treats include Icy Snow Cones, an ice-cream van and more.
The Multitude Choir is back to delight everyone with their selection of Christmas carols. Oh and what would Carols by the Creek be without Santa. Ho! Ho! Ho! He’ll be there too, around 5pm.
For those unable to attend but would like to donate, the BRLC website is: lionsclubs.org.au/get-involved/donations/ For donations to VMR, their website is: vmrbrisbane.com.au.
