One Good Baaia Deserves Another
Everybody needs good neighbours, and one of Sandgate waterfront's most popular eateries is embracing the mantra quite literally.

Baaia, the bustling cafe that has become a favourite for locals and day-trippers, has expanded its footprint to take on the space next door with its offshoot, Baaia Grab n Go.

Owner, Karen Broadhurst, said when the opportunity arose to take over the shop next door, she jumped at it.

The opportunity came up to take over the shop next door and we wanted an alternate to the existing Baaia, she said.

We are so busy on weekends with takeaways that the dine-in customers are often left waiting for coffees. Now there is no waiting or congestion.

There's totally separate food and coffee machine but the same great coffee and amazing staff. You can still order a takeaway coffee from the existing cafe and pick it up next door.

Just because it's designed to be a quickfire version of the original doesn't mean there's any less choice on the menu, with a great range of takeaway items perfect for a cracking waterfront picnic.

We have Baaia Bowls, amazing salad bowls with your choice of chicken, salmon or tofu, and Bagel Boys bagels and toasted wraps with five different fillings to choose from, she said.

We have smoothies designed for various tastes and dietary requirements. Our wraps and bagels are also available gluten free. We also have cakes and breads, everything is takeaway and served with biodegradable utensils.

We even offer picnic blankets to borrow to take to the waterfront.

It appears the grab and go nature of things has resonated, with Karen reporting that the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

We've had really positive feedback, but we really invite customers to tell us what they want as well, she said.

The community has been amazing, we have met so many people since moving here and they are all so supportive of our business.

You can find out more about both venues at the Baaia Facebook page.
