Amici House Community Centre And Café
Bracken Ridge Gospel Church has been converted into a beautiful community hub and café. Amici House has been designed to cater for the seniors and NDIS recipients in the community.

The multifunctional centre aims to aid CO.AS.IT clients with access to exercise classes, allied health services and social interaction, while the Amici House Café is a beautiful Italian-inspired community café that is also open to the public.

CO.AS.IT marketing and communication officer Grace De Maio said that this new centre was the biggest and best of the three centres that CO.AS.IT. owns.

We offer our seniors social group activity centres to give carers a break, and to allow seniors to have a day where they're socialising, Grace said. They have a beautiful lunch, and they have some sort of physical activity, and maybe craft or bingo.

It was a beautiful Gospel Church in its day, with lovely grounds and gardens. It was on the market and the opportunity was to turn it into a community centre for our senior community but also for our NDIS community where we can run workshops and social gatherings.

The land and the property sort of lent itself to having a beautiful café with a really large deck, and that became part of the renovation and redevelopment of the Gospel Church.

Grace said that although the centre was addressing the needs of seniors, it would also run community events throughout the year so the locals could enjoy the beautiful space.

The really exciting thing is that the café has got a really beautiful menu, Grace said. The heritage of the senior management is Italian, so they're very passionate about their food and coffee. It's a really big menu for a little café and it has really beautiful food.

Amici House Café is open between Tuesday to Saturday, from 7am-2pm.

Grace said the centre already had physiotherapist-led exercise classes in a Stay Active program that had grown dramatically this year, and could foresee all the services on offer getting utilised to capacity.

It's really beautiful to see clients who experienced the centre on our open day love being a part of it, and for me to kind of witness how every penny is really spent on fulfilling the needs of the community.
