'tis The Season To Volunteer

Get into the spirit of Christmas by volunteering to help SANDBAG with its annual Christmas Day lunch.

The team at the community-based organisation are seeking volunteers to help with a variety of festive tasks.

SANDBAG neighbourhoods and community program manager Erin Williams said the Christmas lunch would again be held at the St Patrick's College Callan Centre.

They are kindly letting us use their facilities and we really appreciate that and acknowledge their contribution to the day,ť Erin said.

We are calling out for volunteers on the day itself but also for bits and pieces leading up to it. Last year we needed support with Christmas present wrapping, setting up the function centre on the day and cleaning up the day after.ť

Keen volunteers are asked to contact Belinda at SANDBAG on 3869 3244 and leave their details.

Last year I think we had about 100 volunteers doing different things,ť Erin said.

People are pretty generous with their time, especially around Christmas. Anyone can volunteer. There's no age restriction, but children need to be with a parent.ť

SANDBAG will also be giving gifts to children and adults on the day. Anyone wishing to make a donation can call the centre for more information.
