Sandgate Cafe Hosts ‘swappers’ Party

Drawers spelled in alternate fashion spells rewards, and it’s all about giving back at the upcoming Clothes Swapping Party – hosted by Cafe Bohemia in Sandgate.

Described as a time to embrace decluttering one’s closet and also an opportunity to connect with likeminded people, the celebration promises a bit of a shindig as well as a sizzling sale.

Event organiser Debbie Camilleri said that karaoke, live music and dancing were planned as entertainment, with food and beverages available as usual from the cafe.

“We are with Breakaways Rock and Roll Club Brisbane (who love to dance) and we will be dancing in front outside the cafe during the clothes swapping party,” Debbie said.

A group of local musicians are sure to bring something extra special to the sartorial soiree, with their scheduled live performance.

“Retired teacher and veteran singer Arthur Muller will be on hand to headline some karaoke – he will sing the songs and we will be dancing. Also, we will have Allan Stainer playing saxophone. Together, these guys are great entertainment.” Debbie said.

The interior of the cafe will be the site of the event’s major activity, with what isn’t sold being donated to Salvation Army Sandgate.

“Everyone will bring clothes they either want to swap or give away (they should bring their own bags), and it will be a very fun day,” Debbie said.

Debbie said the venue was a beautiful place where regional artists routinely exhibit and sell their works and was responsible for hosting many fabulous events (the Clothes Swapping Party, of course, included).

“It’s a funky little cafe that offers so much – a homely feeling, a place of gathering, and an opportunity to engage in deep conversation and enjoy lots of homemade food. Plus, they brew the best coffees,” she said.

Debbie asked those who partake in the Clothes Swapping Party to show consideration for using the space by purchasing a meal, or coffee and cake.
