Mr Henderson Introduces Two Exciting New Dining Options for Sandgate

Something new is cooking at Mr Henderson’s that's sure to delight the taste buds of 4017 residents.

Claire Hamlyn, co-owner of Mr Henderson, or Hendo's as it’s affectionately known to locals, explained how they’re introducing two new dining options to the Sandgate community.

“At Mr Henderson, we’ve always partnered with food trucks to provide a variety of options to our patrons,” she said. “However, post-Covid, it’s been harder to book them consistently so we thought we’d open our own complimentary food business in addition to keeping a few of our favourite food trucks on rotation to give our customers the best of both worlds.”

Sensing a need for Mexican food in the 4017 community, the stars aligned for Mr Henderson’s team when they learned that Mexican food was of particular interest to their chef, Michael Stillman.

“Mexican is easy to eat, really flavourful, and suits our climate well,” Claire said. “It also pairs perfectly with our popular Margaritas!”

Mr Henderson’s Taqueria will offer eat-in dining, Wednesday to Saturday, from 5-8 pm and will cater to gluten free, vegetarian and vegan diets, creating a menu that everyone can enjoy.

Chef Michael will also be lending his talents as part of a new venture as the Mr Henderson’s team gears up to open a New York deli-inspired sandwich shop in the former Salad Days location.

“When Salad Days became available, it just made sense,” Claire said. “The new shop, Frankie’s on 4th, will deliver a modern sandwich menu, along with a few salad options.”

Opening in early April, Frankie’s on 4th, lovingly named after Claire’s larger-than-life rescue pup, who has sadly passed, will be an exciting new lunch option for the Sandgate community.

“We’ve had a bit of feedback over time about the need for more lunch choices in the local area,” Claire explained. “People really miss Salad Days and say they’re keen for new sandwich options.”

Frankie’s on 4th customers will be able to eat in or take away, and furry friends will also be welcomed, just as they are in Mr Henderson’s backyard.

Claire and her team are more excited than ever to bring these new flavours to the local community.

“You’ll see some familiar faces between Hendo’s and Frankie’s on 4th,” she said, “but we’re also bringing on some new crew members to ensure that our great standards of service will always be maintained for our customers.”
