Rock The Bowlo Fundraiser

The Sandgate and Bracken Ridge Action Group, more commonly known as SANDBAG, is excited to offer a night of live music, food, drinks, raffles and more in an effort to raise much-needed funds.

Kym de Thierry, a Team Leader at SANDBAG, explained that although SANDBAG is still going strong, the space is in need of a little tender loving care, so they have created the perfect community event to make that happen.

“In partnership with local resident Robert Purnell, we’ve decided to offer the community a night of live music as a fundraiser to help cover the costs of upgrades that need to be done to the space,” Kym said. “The money raised will go towards things like an air-con system, a new front entrance, and painting.”

Robert reached out to SANDBAG, expressing his desire to support the centre, and given his long-standing relationships in the music industry, the idea to hold a live music show was born.

Rock the Bowlo will feature performances from premier Brisbane bands Fat Chance and Frau Blucher, with special guests Glen Sexton, Suzie Purnell and Rick Young.

SANDBAG is an inclusive community-based organisation that has been working to connect people with programs and services for the past 30 years, and community support through fundraising is a key part of their success.

“This event is not only a great way to raise money – it’s also a wonderful way to bring the community together,” said Kym. “We hope to create awareness for SANDBAG while having some fun at the same time!”
